Songbook meets Field Journal.

Essential Question: "How can the fusion of music, field journaling, and storytelling deepen our emotional connection to the Earth and inspire a sense of environmental stewardship through the arts?"

Overarching: We will deepen children's social and emotional connection to the earth through music about the role of water on the earth’s processes. A songbook mixed with a field journal, the album, and the book will take one on a journey to deepen the capacity for environmental stewardship via the arts.

Musical Headwaters is a Musica Sierra program that commissions albums inspired by the Sierra Valley to bridge nature-based education with the visual and performing arts and deepen our social and emotional connection to the earth.

Our Musical Field Journals are designed with love to accompany the Musical Headwaters albums for the learning of the songs and self-discovery through singing in nature.

Currently we offer three albums that accompany our three Musical Field Journals.

Mammals, Trout, and Watershed

We currently have musical scores that serve ages 7 all the way to Collegiate or professional musicians.

Watershed:

• Arrangement for choir

• “I am a Cloud” arrangement for elementary school featuring two treble instruments, ukulele chords, and choir.

Trout:

• We have the score for violin, mandolin, guitar, and solo voice.

• Trout has been adapted for 3-5th grade plays and comes with a vocal score as well as backtracks and a teacher’s guide, which includes choreography.
