“We are singers for a few simple reasons. We sing for the people, the dancers, and those that came before us. Always remembering that respecting the drum, each other, and our beliefs should hold true. Above and beyond anything else, we should sing from our hearts and with honor, rather than fame and glory.”
-The Red Hoop Singers
For almost 3 decades Red Hoop has continued to sing for the people and remember all the teachings that have been taught since day one. Over the years, Red Hoop has received a lot of help and encouragement from a wide range of friends and family and some profound world-class champion singers. The belief and respect for the drum have always come first, Red Hoop continues to live by that to this day. Although Red Hoop originally started in Nevada, the singers now come from 4 states; Nevada, California, Oregon, and Wyoming. Red Hoop members are from a variety of tribes such as; Washoe, Paiute, Shoshone, Lakota, Cree, Chumash, Dine', Siletz Confederated Tribes, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Northern Arapahoe.
To date, Red Hoop has released 6 recorded albums, including both pow wow and round dance songs. Red Hoop was able to complete a new recording during the pandemic and is hoping to release the new album in the spring of 2021.
